Where to begin with these people? It is exhausting and frustrating to try to keep up with bad-faith actors who intentionally lie for political gain, which is precisely what liberals are doing to confuse and distort the current debate over religious freedom and healthcare mandates. As we reported yesterday, the Democrat-controlled Senate killed a Republican amendment that would have restored religious liberty exemptions to the pre-Obamacare status quo. Its language was similar to both Hillarycare’s conscience protections, and 1993′s Ted Kennedy-authored and Bill Clinton-signed Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Despite these facts, Democrats and their allies have been lying their asses off, pretending that the effort they squelched as a “ban” on contraception. The Obama campaign has now dragged this false narrative to a new mendacious low with this mock-up employer/employee “permission slip:”
Yesterday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified before Congress and made some pretty startling and alarming comments.
“The reduction in the number of pregnancies compensates for the cost of contraception,” Sebelius said. She went on to say the estimated cost is “down not up.”
“According to Jammie Wearing Fools, Sandra Fluke isn’t a 23-year-old student, but a 30-year-old activist, who by her own admission, chose to attend Georgetown specifically because it’s insurance policy didn’t cover contraceptives. Why isn’t the media reporting this? I wouldn’t be surprised if this whole ordeal had been orchestrated by people within the Obama administration. It’s timing to coincide with their attack on religion through contraceptives is far too convenient.”
The controversy over the Obama Administration’s anti-conscience mandate and the fight for religious liberty only serves to highlight the inherent flaws in Obamacare. This conflict is a natural result of the centralization laid out under Obamacare and will only continue until the law is repealed in full.
2/27/12 – Here is audio of Mark Levin talking with “Brad from Buffalo” about his question at a recent Town Hall Meeting to Democrat Rep. Kathy Hochul (NY CD-26). Brad asked Hochul where she and Obama get the authority to require any private or religious entity to pay for something for free for people. Her response was very revealing. She responded: “Basically, we’re not looking to the Constitution on that aspect of it.”
Levin actually talks with “Brad from Buffalo” at the 4:23 mark of this video about his question and Hochul’s answer, and praises Brad for “exposing” Hochul – telling him “We salute you.”
To date, seven lawsuits have been filed in response to this mandate, and those legal actions are but the tip of the iceberg of opposition to the Administration’s despotic directive.
The controversy began last August when the White House announced the anti-conscience policy as an interim final rule. Individuals and leaders from various faith backgrounds, including Roman Catholic, Jewish, evangelical, and Protestant traditions
